Day 2 : Ouarzazate – Nkob (230KM)
A wonderful cycling day that allows you to adjust to your bike and the terrain. After breakfast, we go about 6 kilometers on the road before continuing west on a broad route that has been readied for asphalt but hasn’t yet been filled with the dark substance. After that, the terrain becomes truly off-road, with mainly hard-packed soil, a few brief rocky stretches, river crossings, and small communities. Long stretches of the trail are undulating and wind through the hills without a rock in sight.
After eating a picnic lunch on the path somewhere after 100 kilometers, we turn south-east and continue to the village of Agdz by winding our way through the Anti Atlas Mountains. After a brief stop for gasoline and coffee, we have 30 km of off-road driving through palmariae that follows the Draa River before we reach the asphalt.
We next go 22 kilometers due east before halting for the night in the settlement of N’Kob. We’ll spend the night in a Kasbah that has been converted after more than 200 years.
Day 3 : Nkob – Merzouga Desert (205KM)
After breakfast, we leave the hotel and travel south to the desert camp, where we will spend the night. We soon arrive at the massive dry lakebed of Lac Maider after traveling down extremely fast winding trails and riverbeds, where we pause for a drink.
From here, we ride our bikes through bulldust (fesh fesh) and across sandy, dry riverbeds to Remlia, where we refuel.
the final 20 kilometers through sand dunes to our overnight halt at the bivouac in the desert with hot showers.
We all grab a beer and ride our bikes to the top of the nearby, sizable middle-sized dunes in the late afternoon or early evening after the sand has cooled down to watch the sunset.
We all eat dinner in the camp before relaxing around a bonfire to the sounds of local musicians.
Day 4 : Merzouga Desert – Dades Valley (170KM)
After breakfast, we depart from our bivouac and make our way back over the sand dunes to Remlia, where we refuel. As we turn north, we go through another fesh fesh, pause for a drink at a nearby auberge in a gorge, and then travel quickly across an endless dry lake bed, along twisting sand pathways, and along riverbeds.
Refuel the 44 out here, and then go to the settlement of Al Nif where we have lunch and refuel one more. Now that the desert is past us.
As we continue north, we travel through the Jebel Saghro mountains on winding trails that feature dramatic rock formations, breathtaking scenery, and long drops into rocky valleys. Eventually, we emerge onto a plateau that leads us a short distance on asphalt to our next night’s lodging, a lovely old castle located at the end of a track road in the Gorge. The Moroccan-designed ceiling is seen in the beautiful central open area of the building. A swimming pool, as well as lovely spots and calm areas, are outdoors.
Day 5 : Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate (190KM)
After breakfast, refuel before ascending the Dades Gorge and heading east through the Atlas Mountain foothills. We travel through significant washouts and gullies on swift, undulating parts before arriving at a plateau. Lunch on a picnic area someplace on the plateau.
We return to Ouarzazate after a number of river crossings, trails that descend into picturesque river gorges, and the final 20 km of rapid tracks across a level plateau.
It’s time to head to the bar, have a well-earned drink, and reflect on all the adventures we’ve had after dropping the motorcycles off at our garage and inspecting them for damage with our mechanic Ibrahim.
Day 6 : Ouarzazate Airport
Following a shared breakfast, everyone is transferred to their departure airport, end our 6 Days Motorcycle Tour from Ouarzazate.
I’m hoping to see you soon.
